Well it is very obvious that Charlie’s days in South Bend are over. That is great news for the Notre Dame football program. I don’t really feel the need to pile on here. If you know me, you have heard me go off ad nauseum about Weis’ coaching. His teams are undisciplined, predictable, sloppy and unmotivated. With that said I do want to be one of the few people to point on the good that Weis brought to ND.
- He showed you can still recruit top talent at Notre Dame
- Perennial top 10 recruiting class
- Talent level at Notre Dame is at highest since early 90s.
- He Graduated his players
- 92% of ND players graduate, tied with Duke for tops on the NCAA
- Brought a top flight passing game to the Irish offense
- See Brady Quinn / Jimmy Clausen / Golden Tate / Michael Floyd
Nobody is happier to see him go than me. But I find it ironic that the things he was successful with were the other parts of leading a college program, recruiting, graduating players etc. And what was thought to be his strength, coaching, turned out to be his biggest weakness.
I know you wanted to Win Charlie Weis, but like your 6-5 football team, you were just not good enough.
